Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Hardware Specialist to join our growing and dynamic team! This role plays a critical role in leading hardware strategy, product evaluation, and deployment excellence across Razor Tracking’s telematics platform. It blends hands-on technical execution with strategic decision-making, enabling scalable and high-performing hardware solutions. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep technical knowledge, independent judgment, and a proactive approach to solving hardware integration challenges across diverse client environments. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, leads internal hardware enablement efforts, and owns projects that influence product roadmap and field performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Razor Tracking’s hardware ecosystem, including GPS trackers, cameras, sensors, and integration solutions
• Own and lead hardware sourcing, product testing, and vendor evaluation projects to support business and customer needs
• Identify, test, and recommend new hardware or configuration solutions using structured assessment frameworks
• Develop and implement hardware-related SOPs and installation protocols for both internal teams and customers
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware challenges, applying independent judgment to complex, high-impact issues
• Train and support internal teams (e.g., Sales, Support, Development) on hardware functionality and deployment best practices
• Partner with development teams to influence product design and ensure software compatibility with current and future hardware
• Author and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation, including knowledge base content, deployment guides, and test results
• Travel occasionally for onsite customer projects or strategic deployments (typically <25%)
Qualifications:
Education:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on and analytical experience
Experience:
• 2–5 years in a hardware strategy, technical support, or installation-related role, preferably in telematics, automotive technology, or IoT hardware
• Experience leading hardware-related projects or influencing cross-functional implementation decisions
Technical:
• Strong expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex hardware connectivity, wiring, and configuration issues
• Familiarity with vehicle and equipment-based telematics hardware, including installation, testing, and performance optimization
• Foundational understanding of networking, GPS technologies, and IoT device integration
• Proficiency using diagnostic tools and software to evaluate hardware reliability and performance
Preferred Skills:
• Proven ability to work independently and lead hardware evaluation or deployment projects with minimal oversight
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret test results and recommend solutions
• Effective communicator, able to translate technical details into actionable insights for diverse internal and external stakeholders
• Comfortable with occasional hands-on installation work, including lifting and configuring equipment in field or confined settings
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel, including occasional trips to Canada
