We are seeking a self-motivated, skilled, and detail-oriented Engineer to join our Operational Excellence (OpEx) team and lead the AIM Program (Awareness Is Money). This role is responsible for driving continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency within our metal fabrication operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong ability to collaborate across functions, enhance processes, implement new technologies, and optimize manufacturing workflows to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational & Process Improvement
- Analyze, refine, and optimize metal fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, forming, and machining.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
- Utilize CAD software to design process layouts, equipment modifications, and workflow optimizations.
- Apply data-driven decision-making and problem-solving techniques to enhance manufacturing performance.
AIM Program Leadership
- Provide support, coordination, and leadership for the AIM Program and Team across all Behlen facilities.
- Manage, track, and analyze AIM suggestions from conception to implementation, ensuring successful execution and continuous improvement.
- Lead AIM Week activities at the Columbus location every December.
- Oversee monthly and yearly AIM Idea winners, including points, prizes, and recognition programs.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote safe working habits, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, policies, and job safety analysis (JSA).
- Drive continuous improvement in product quality using our ISO 9000 Systems.
- Ensure compliance with all documented procedures and the employee handbook.
Team Development & Training
- Work closely with production teams to ensure seamless integration of process changes.
- Provide training and safety leadership to all AIM Team Members.
- Empower team members by leveraging their expertise to drive innovation and efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing leadership.
- Proficiency in CAD software for process design and layout optimization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred:
- Lean Manufacturing certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with a track record of delivering measurable results.
