Position Summary
Sargent is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team as a Deburr/Machine Operator. This role is integral to our machining operations, driving productivity, ensuring quality, and fostering continuous improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate with our team to exceed organizational goals and support operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and promote safety standards for all equipment, demonstrating safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment as required.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards in all tasks.
- Execute operations as outlined in specifications, blueprints, and documented procedures.
- Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Monitor processes and respond promptly to non-conformances.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and abrasives to deburr and finish machined parts to required specifications (training available).
- Inspect parts for burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections.
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to understand finishing requirements (training provided if needed).
- Assist machinists and quality control teams in ensuring parts meet customer and company standards.
- Operate pre-setup machines or saw materials as needed when not deburring.
- Identify parts accurately using tools such as vibro peen, electrochemical etching, CNC engravers, or dot-peen systems (training available).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Mechanically inclined with a basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Availability to work overtime as required.
- Proven ability to follow work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- No prior deburring experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and mechanical processes.
- Ability to read and measure complex parts using various measuring equipment.
- Physical capability to:
- Bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, and handle objects as needed.
- Push, pull, and reach above shoulder level.
- Carry/lift to 40 pounds and rotate handled items.
- Stand on feet for the entire shift.
- Manual dexterity for repetitive, methodical tasks.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Machining related experience or course work is a plus.
