What are the responsibilities and job description for the Setup Operator Drop Grind & Roll Thread position at RBC?
Under the direction of the supervisor, the employee is responsible for the set-up and operation of the roll thread and drop grind machines and related gaging equipment. Specific responsibilities in the roll thread area include the selection and changing of roll thread dies, speed adjustment and die compensation, as well as the selection and set-up of stops, rails, fingers and thread gages.
Responsibilities in the drop grind area include changing and dressing grinding wheels, changing work rest blades and diamonds, determining proper machine speed and set-up parameters. This individual must be able to check gaging equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and roll thread comparators.
This person must also report all maintenance requirements to the supervisor on a timely basis, and must request, through the supervisor, all dies, wheels and other materials as required. This person is also responsible for maintaining good production records, the segregation, identification and transportation of any material within the roll thread and drop grind area. Other responsibilities include keeping the work area clean and safe as well as maintaining an orderly inventory of all tools and any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor.
