What are the responsibilities and job description for the Helpline Advocate - Data Entry position at RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center?
Position Summary:
The Helpline Advocate & Data Entry Coordinator is responsible for providing first contact telephone crisis intervention services during regular office hours. In addition, this position will coordinate and enter data into the RCC database for all client contact. This position will relay RCC policy and procedure for RCC advocacy services, answering the helpline, general assistance with referrals and community resources and other telephone advocacy that can help a survivor focus on their healing process. As with all RCC employees, the Helpline Advocate & Data Entry Coordinator must be committed to providing services with and to a variety of cultures with cultural awareness, sensitivity and humility.
Primary Position Duties:
Duties and Responsibilities

Must be able to take calls at our main office on 2801 Coho Street, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Provide crisis intervention by phone to victims of sexual assault and/or childhood sexual abuse, their support people and concerned community members.

Provide accurate information about community resources to helpline callers. Make referrals when appropriate.

Adhere to Rape Crisis Center policies and practices.

Communicate with On Call Advocates, Helpline Services and Volunteer Coordinator and RCC day staff as needed.

Complete necessary paperwork.

Data entry for all direct service client contact into the RCC database.

Quality control for client information including demographic information.

Dispatching daytime staff to medical, legal, and law enforcement accompaniments.

Empower sexual assault survivors with all options and accurate information regarding involvement with law enforcement, the criminal justice system, Crime Victim’s Compensation and SAFE funds, Restraining Orders, forensic medical exams, and other healing related resources and information following a sexual assault.

Must work collaboratively with campus partners, community organizations and agencies such as law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program, and other community partners.
Program and General

Ensure Helpline Services and Volunteer Coordinator & Direct Service Coordinator are regularly briefed in a timely manner on helpline call and data entry trends.

Attend regular staff meetings and in-services, maintain regular contact with staff and supervisor, document services provided, and assist in office operations.

Access to reliable private transportation.

In person availability in the main office Monday through Friday during the 9-5 business hours.

Understanding of sexual violence and related issues.

Completion of Rape Crisis Center’s Helpline Advocacy training curriculum.

Background check required
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience equivalent to or degree in human services or related fields.

Experience and/or training in providing advocacy to victims of sexual assault.

Knowledge of Dane County community resources.

Bilingual in Spanish and English.
