POSITION OVERVIEW:
To prepare and present food quickly and efficiently. To ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen at all times and directs the daily duties of the cooks.
I. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensures that special diets (as determined by the Center Director) are adhered to.
- Ensures that meals are prepared on schedule.
- Uses appropriate guidelines for estimating amounts to be prepared, utilizing leftovers for subsequent child meals wherever possible and ensuring that extra food or leftovers are distributed or disposed of per policy.
- Uses food production and food storage procedures that are in compliance with the Pinellas County Health Department.
- Performs weekly food inventory for orders of items needed.
- Plans and completes routine cleaning of kitchen.
- Washes and sanitizes utensils and dishes thoroughly.
- Maintains proper hygiene and dress requirements for food service staff.
- Ensures all documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner to all parties.
- May need to cover in classrooms
Meets all agency requirements. - Performs other duties as assigned.
II. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
This position requires extensive contact with others and moderately complex communications as a regular part of the job. Position requires above average degree of independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision. Requires valid driver's license and insurance. This position also requires some heavy lifting.
Qualifications
III. SCREENING QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or equivalent plus experience in industrial /commercial food service required with prior cooking experience.
