Live-in Caregiver

Live-In Caregiver wanted for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
This current opportunity is in Calverton, NY.

The LIC provides companionship, guidance, emotional support, and overall safety and security oversight, with the responsibility to notify the Circle or Support as warranted.
There is no direct compensation for being a LIC. The compensation a LIC receives is board and lodging. The LIC will pay no rent, will have a monthly food stipend, and have all utilities costs paid on their behalf including free wireless internet access. The LIC would additionally provide hourly paid tax exempt (as per IRS Notice 2014-7) work as a Direct Support Staff (DSP). While the LIC role does not require attendance in the home 24X7, they would need to make best efforts to be available at all times via text/phone, as needed, and at the end of the day they would come back home. This is a 24X7 Live-In position.

This is a unique opportunity, caring for I/DD individuals, who need an added layer of support that allows them to live their best lives independently in the community in their own apartment. This is not a typical medical needs or hospice type role, although some of those skills are transferrable to this Live-In caregiver position.

Typical I/DD diagnoses include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, although there are many more.

Preference would be given to candidates who have experience working with individuals who receive support and services from the NYS OPWDD.
