RCMT Energy Services is seeking to hire an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Oakland, NJ
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems with minimal guidance from other experienced engineers and must be both willing and able to provide guidance to other engineers and designers. Services are performed for various Energy and Utility companies such as but not limited to Electric Utilities, Natural Gas Utilities, Oil Refineries, etc., as well as other industrial and commercial clients such as warehouses, office buildings, and factories.
Applicants familiar with HVAC and fire protection in commercial and large residential complexes are encouraged to apply.

This position is a hybrid position, based out of RCMT's Montvale, NJ office. The job will require the candidate to work out of this office a minimum of 1-2 days per week. The applicant will be able to from home the other 3-4 days of the week.

Major Responsibilities and Activities:
- Design and computer drafting of mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, including heating loads, ventilation, and energy calculations.
- Prepare conceptual, bid, construction design packages which include detailed plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Facilitate and/or participate in project coordination with the electrical, civil/structural and architectural disciplines.
- Preparation of engineering studies and reports.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to coordinate equipment selections.
- Assist assigned engineers and designers in the resolution of technical engineering and design challenges.
- Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from coworkers, clients, vendors and obtain information from field visits.
- Meet Schedule requirements for engineering deliverables to ensure project schedules are met.
Other Duties
- Develop processes and procedures that will ensure an effective and optimized use of resources while providing high quality design packages.
- Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
- Ability to perform multi-tasks and perform multidisciplinary coordination.
- Create designs for new systems in existing and new facilities.
- Evaluate existing facilities and provide recommendations and/or design modifications to upgrade existing systems to meet the project objectives.
- Work closely with customers and associates to provide cost-effective designs based on the requirements of various building codes and fire codes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-20 years of directly related technical experience.
- Knowledge and proficiency of CADD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation and their related products). Working knowledge of REVIT is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of NFPA Fire Codes.
- Working knowledge of IBC and local amendments in various cities and townships.
- Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making.
- Shows strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, vendors, and the public at large.
- Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products.
- Highly Proficient in the use of HVAC engineering[RA1] analysis software such as Trane Trace, Elite, Carrier HAP[RA2] , and/or similar applications.
- Perform other related assignments as required.
- Must be safety focused and familiar with typical PPE practices at industrial facilities and sites.
- Must possess a valid driver's license to drive to client sites and between branch offices.
Desirable, But Not Required:
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or other Engineering disciplines.
- Possession of an EIT/FE Certificate, and the ability to obtain a PE License in a US state, district, or territory.
- Possession of a valid PE License in the United States and the willingness to obtain a PE in additional states as necessary.
- Certifications: PMP, LEED-AP, CFPS, NICET
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software packages
- Familiarity with welding processes.
- A completed Model Law NCEES record is a plus.
- Inter-disciplinary Engineering Experience is highly desired.
- Knowledge of New York City Department of Building codes, and NYC filing requirements a plus.
- Familiarity with FDNY filings and procedures is a plus.
- Testing, Commissioning or Start-up Experience.
- On-site experience and familiarity with industrial sites and facilities such as power plants, gas/oil processing/transmission/storage facilities, electrical substations, and/or factories, etc. Must be willing and able to visit such facilities as part of project assignments.
- US Citizen or the ability to work in the US without sponsorship.

Salary : $109,200 - $144,300
