Contract Position

Role: R&D Metrology Technician
Compensation: up to $47/hr., commensurate with experience
Location: Southwest of Boston
Length of Contract: 6 months

Position Description:
The purpose of the R&D Metrology Technician position is to complete assignments in support of R&D process development for the commercialization of new medical wire coating applications. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for testing and analysis of the development process for new PTFE and non-PTFE coatings. Deliverables will include documentation and reporting of test results Primary responsibilities will include the testing of new coating process development samples in the QC lab. Other duties will include working with R&D, Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality in support of executing day-to-day process development runs. Support for coating formulation preparation may be included as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and participate on R&D team to develop and execute process development plans.
  • Complete sample testing for product characterization using available testing equipment. Perform testing for product characterization on various in-house testing equipment.
  • Support the day-to-day development plans under the direction process development engineers and the R&D Director
  • Apply ASTM standards for QC testing methods and inspections using various equipment and measuring devices including an Instron Tensile Tester, Bruker Hysitron Nanoindenter, and Anton Paar Pin-on-Disk Tribometer.
  • Author test method documentation and participate in the test method validation process
  • Work within the established company-wide quality documentation system, including key aspects such as executing test methods per procedure, collecting and documenting test results, writing test data reports and procedures.
  • Follow Quality Management System requirements in an ISO 13485 / GMP manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a 2 yr. degree or equivalent, a bachelor's degree is a plus
  • Work experience required and materials testing lab experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated. Able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
Education & Certifications:
  • Minimum of a 2yr degree or equivalent, a bachelor's degree is a plus
