Brief Overview Of Role
The Engineering Project Manager or Project engineer is responsible for coordination and management of the engineering design process and execution on a project basis for multi-disciplined engineering design projects. The Project Manager/Project Engineer ensures that all engineering deliverables are being generated in accordance with the Contract and the approved project schedule, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. The Engineering PM/Project Engineer will interface with the client as a representative of RCMT and its interests, and will ensure that the client's needs and feedback is received, understood, and communicated to the RCMT project team. The Engineering PM/Project Engineer will also interface with RCMT Project Managers overseeing the full project. Responsibilities include ownership of the engineering design plan/process and schedule for each project. The Engineering Project Manager/Project Engineer will update/follow schedule and facilitate timely processing of RFI's, submittals, and other required documents. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordination of engineering disciplines, including reviewing engineering deliverables received from discipline leads and reviewing overall design packages for completeness, consistency, and quality across all disciplines (i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, etc.).

Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Manage and track the day-to-day engineering progress on deliverables individual Projects and interface with the various discipline engineers assigned to the project.
- Ensure that project execution plans are generated and followed.
- Chair and schedule project meetings with in-house multi-disciplined teams, the client, governmental authorities, and other subcontracted or 3 rd party design professionals.
- Manage the cost and time impact of design scope changes including unforeseen field conditions, client driven scope changes, or other requests.
- Generate and track RFI and Submission logs for the engineering phase, technical support phase, and closeout phase of the project. Assign and follow up with engineering discipline leads to ensure RFI's and submissions are responded to in a timely manner per contract requirements.
- Generate change order proposals, including change order request proposal forms, letters, and cost estimates. Collect labor requirements from each discipline impacted by the change order scope and establish fee basis. Establish justifications for submission to clients by reviewing technical issues with discipline engineers and writing change order summaries and reasonings.
- Review project design progress and compare against the approved schedule, identify deviations, potential cause and recovery efforts.
- Provide minutes for all meetings chaired in addition to providing weekly written reports of project progress including identification of outstanding issues that potentially may impact the project.
- Conduct constructability review of design documents and provide comments and feedback to the engineering disciplines.
- Attend client meetings virtually and in-person as required. Ensure appropriate engineering discipline leads are attending meetings where required.
- Maintain and update schedules in Microsoft project, P6, and spreadsheets.
- 10 years of experience providing project management or serving as project engineer for multi-disciplined engineering projects.
- Experience in Utilities preferred. Other acceptable experience is Oil & Gas, and/or Commercial/Industrial Building Design
- Strong technical background in Engineering, including design experience in one related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred for the Engineering PM role.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required for Project Engineer role.
- Possess strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and adeptness in conflict resolution and client interfacing/negotiation.
- Proficient in the use of technology, Word, Excel, Power point, Scheduling Software, Electronic Project Management, AutoCad, etc.
- Working knowledge of MS Project and P6 scheduling software and CPM scheduling best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or have equivalent experience deemed acceptable by RCM Technologies.
- Primarily remote with occasional regular visits to the RCMT Engineering office and client sites.
- Reports to the US Engineering office in Montvale NJ.
