RCN Capital is seeking a Product Owner to join our Technology team! This is a great opportunity to play a key role in providing guidance and leadership to our development team and work directly with company leadership to features and workflow efficiencies to achieve the vision we have to remain an industry leader in both lending and technology.
The Product Owner will be responsible for developing product visions based on market dynamics, data analytics, and industry insight. The individual will help establish a strategy for a suite of products? implementation through the road mapping of features and their releases in collaboration with both business and engineering stakeholders and client interactions. They will work with various departments across the organization and provide leadership during all phases of the product?s life cycle, ensuring its successful release and adoption.
Ideal candidates do not necessarily need to have experience as a Product Owner or in a Product Management environment. Someone who is goal-oriented, possesses an understanding of technology, specifically an understanding of API's, general programming syntax, database structures and the like, and has an interest in working within an entrepreneurial business environment would be a strong candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the company's business model, customer needs, and industry trends
- Assess the potential for new and existing initiatives, and make recommendations to management based on findings and experience
- Work directly with product users (customers) and act as their representative when writing business requirements
- Communicate with product stakeholders to ensure their needs are met with requirements/goals are achieved
- Translate business goals into detailed user stories (requirements) for prioritizing the product backlog
- Assist in the product release, create release notes, update change logs, and advise support teams
- Create, review, and update business documentation and user documentation for product(s)
- As subject matter expert (SME), manage day-to-day operations of product(s), coordinate product maintenance/support efforts, and evaluated reported bugs for escalation and triage
- Coordinate within and among multiple product development teams in order to achieve major company initiatives
- Evaluate the expected ROI of specific feature sets or new products and compare to actual results if implemented.
- Analyze project operational metrics for trends within the engineering department and perform evaluations in order to help drive improvement efforts
- Responsible for more complicated and mission critical projects
- Mentor Jr Product Owners
- Additional tasks and projects as directed
Required Skills:

Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in Product Ownership
- Experience with software development is ideal
- Experience with Scrum or other agile development methodology, including prior experience as a Product Owner a plus
- Experience working in a product management environment preferred
- Prior experience as a developer, tester or equivalent experience on a software engineering team also ideal
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Engineering, Business/Economics required
