A Pet Care Specialist with RCO Pet Care is a flexible, part-time job. Some weeks will be busier than others depending on school schedules, holidays, etc. We find fall is busy for daytime dog walking due to school resuming. Summer is busy for daytime check-ins and AM/PM pet sitting visits due to vacations. Every day is different which makes it fun!
Essential Job Functions/Core Duties
Pet Care Specialists are primarily responsible for walking dogs and caring for dogs, cats, and small animals while families travel. Duties may include:
- Driving to, between and from scheduled appointments typically between 7-9a
- Accessing clients’ homes
- Providing food and water to pets
- Administering medication to pets
- Disposing of animal waste appropriately
- Monitoring the safety and health of pets
- Ahere to agreed-upon routes, schedules, and other directions from clients
Required Skills
- Ability to control dogs of varying sizes and breeds.
- Ability to track time and manage appointments and scheduling conflicts.
- Ability to communicate with clients and management, including initial consultations and receiving client feedback
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records relating to services provided, including records of the time spent on each service
Compensation
Our Pet Care Specialists make a minimum of $15.69 an hour but often average between $18-$20/hour along with holiday stipends and ample opportunity to earn tips.

Physical Job Requirements
A key element of this role is to have physical stamina and the ability to control multiple dogs during walks with intermittent hazards such as vehicle and pedestrian traffic. You will spend a significant amount of time outside for your job and you may be asked to walk dogs in inclement weather (cold, raining, etc.).
While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
At times, RCO Pet Care services will require you to transport a dog in your personal vehicle. You may also be responsible for taking dogs to the veterinarian in the event of an emergency or scheduled visit.
