Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP MM / WM Architect with strong expertise in Materials Management (MM) and Warehouse Management (WM), along with knowledge of Production Planning (PP) for a leading pharmaceutical industry project. The ideal candidate should have 14 years of SAP experience in designing, architecting, and implementing end-to-end SAP MM / WM solutions in an SAP S / 4HANA environment. This role requires deep technical expertise, business acumen, and hands-on experience with SAP integration, compliance, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities :
1. SAP MM / WM Solution Architecture & Design
Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of SAP MM (Materials Management) and WM (Warehouse Management) in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Define the best practices and standards for SAP procurement, inventory management, and warehouse processes.
Architect SAP MM processes including procure-to-pay (P2P), vendor management, inventory control, and materials master data governance.
Design SAP WM solutions covering inbound / outbound logistics, storage bin management, picking / putaway strategies, and batch / serial tracking.
Ensure seamless integration with SAP PP (Production Planning), SD (Sales & Distribution), and QM (Quality Management).
2. Implementation & Solution Delivery
Drive SAP S / 4HANA MM / WM transformations, upgrades, and rollouts.
Provide functional and technical expertise for SAP MM / WM configurations including purchasing, MRP, batch management, handling unit management (HUM), and physical inventory.
Implement SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) as part of the warehouse automation roadmap.
Lead data migration strategies, cutover planning, and business process reengineering for SAP MM / WM.
Work with cross-functional teams to optimize procurement, warehouse management, and supply chain efficiency.
3. Compliance & Pharmaceutical Industry Requirements
Ensure SAP GxP, FDA, and SOX compliance in materials and warehouse management processes.
Design and implement audit trails, change controls, validation protocols, and document control systems within SAP.
Establish batch traceability and serialization (DSCSA, EU FMD compliance) for pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution.
Optimize warehouse operations for cold chain logistics, controlled substances, and high-value inventory in compliance with industry regulations.
4. Integration & System Enhancements
Define SAP MM / WM integration strategies with third-party MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers.
Work closely with SAP Basis, ABAP, and Security teams to ensure system scalability and security.
Implement RFID, barcode scanning, and IoT-enabled inventory tracking within SAP WM.
Leverage SAP Fiori / UI5 applications for an enhanced user experience in warehouse and procurement operations.
5. Leadership & Collaboration
Act as a SAP MM / WM subject matter expert (SME) for business stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to SAP consultants and functional analysts.
Conduct solution reviews, stakeholder workshops, and training sessions.
Required Skills & Experience :
14 years of SAP experience, with a strong focus on SAP MM, WM, and integration with PP.
At least 5 years as an SAP Architect, leading large-scale SAP MM / WM solution designs.
Hands-on experience in SAP S / 4HANA MM / WM implementations, migrations, or rollouts.
Strong expertise in procurement (P2P), inventory management, warehouse logistics, and batch management.
Knowledge of SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) and its implementation in large enterprises.
Experience in SAP PP (Production Planning) processes such as MRP, production orders, and shop floor integration (Preferred).
Strong understanding of compliance (GxP, FDA, SOX, DSCSA, EU FMD) and audit readiness in pharmaceutical operations.
SAP integration experience with SAP QM, SD, PP, MES, LIMS, and external 3PLs.
Hands-on experience with IDoc, BAPIs, RFCs, and middleware (SAP PI / PO, MuleSoft, or Dell Boomi).
Preferred Qualifications :
Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) and SAP Ariba for vendor and procurement automation.
Exposure to RFID, IoT, and AI-based supply chain optimization.
Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) for cloud-based innovations.
