Summary
The Molding Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the injection molding functions of the plant in order to produce quality products efficiently, on time, and within the company’s economic framework to optimize profitability while maintaining internal contact with other managers and departments within the company as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5 years of manufacturing experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience
Essential Functions
- Supervises molding and set-up technicians, which includes their daily performance, quality of work, maintenance of the equipment, accuracy of their processing, ability to follow instructions, and daily efficiency regarding machine set-ups and output.
- Oversees training of new hires and temporary contract labor where needed.
- Moves about the molding department constantly, monitors work progress, making adjustments throughout the shift to meet frequently changing and competing priorities.
- Provides leadership and oversight to molding employees. Identifies and addresses general training needs or questions, establishing a mentor relationship and encouraging a high level of performance. Communicates concerns to management, when necessary, passes along compliments and constructive advice whenever appropriate. Communicates expectations in a clear and positive manner. Focuses on correction/education rather than punishment when addressing performance issues.
- As necessary, pulls molds for service and sets up molds to run in molding machines, using strength agility and good body mechanics.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and process documentation and/or process programs.
- Assumes leadership and responsibility for a variety of development-related projects and sampling runs for new products and tooling verifications.
- Verifies process parameters and procedures directly related to dimensional requirements for optimum cycle times and implement or report any required tool/mold modifications to achieve those required dimensions when running optimally.
- Coordinates the start-up of upcoming projects/products, plan for any unforeseen issues and create daily/weekly schedules in accordance with supply requirements.
- Works in conjunction with the Quality department to improve process & quality control.
- Coordinates and schedules mold repairs using internal or external resources when repairs, preventive maintenance and engineering changes are necessary. Monitors the tool shop(s) on duration of all such repairs, preventive maintenance and engineering changes.
- Works toward the elimination of scrap by properly evaluating the causes.
- Develops and implements new and/or improved systems and procedures.
- Develops and maintains an accurate log of tools, molds, and machines with special attention to their set ups for specific molded components.
- Maintains continuous dialogue and communication with the Director of Manufacturing Operations as needed to keep informed on the status of safety, quality, production, schedules, workloads, problems and opportunities available to maximize efficient operation.
- Identifies and maintains tool integrity through proper handling and staging procedures.
- Maintains compliance within company policies, quality specifications, safety standards and good housekeeping practices
- Follows appropriate safety policies and procedures of RDI as well as community and regulatory instruction. Utilizes all safety features of machinery, vehicles. Adheres to safety techniques as instructed. Corrects or reports safety hazards.
- Considers all factors and makes decisions about matters of importance.
- Completes all departmental documentation consistently, with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
- Willingly participates in training, puts training into practice quickly
- Trains fellow employees, including new hires and temporary employees as requested
- Maintains a good record of attendance and punctuality as defined by RDI’s policy. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by RDI.

Work Environment
This job operates indoors production warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
