Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned nonprofit clients, offering expert financial advice and guidance to support their organizational objectives
- Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, analyzing budgets, cash flow, grant management, and financial statements to identify areas for improvement and efficiency
- Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts aligned with their long-term goals and objectives
- Oversee and support the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reports and presentations to key stakeholders, including finance committees and boards of directors
- Provide insights and recommendations based on key financial metrics, industry trends, and nonprofit best practices
- Ensure client compliance with all relevant financial regulations, reporting requirements, and funding sources (e.g. federal, state, and local government grants)
- Assess and mitigate financial risks for clients by implementing effective strategies to safeguard their financial assets and investments
- Serve as subject matter expert and advisor on all client-related accounting and financial matters, including, but not limited to, the Code of Federal Regulations, indirect cost rates, allocation methodologies, and accounting standard updates (ASUs)
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at each client organization, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate
- Address client concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (Master's Degree preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- 10 years of experience in the nonprofit industry
- 10 years of senior accounting experience (Director of Finance/Controller/CFO/Chief Accounting Officer)
- Extensive federal and state grant administration/management experience
- Advanced knowledge of industry-specific accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders and C-level executives
- Experience in people management and leading high-performance teams, creating and implementing processes and efficiencies
- Work experience in consulting and/or business process outsourcing (BPO)
