RDR is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia. This role is essential to our business operations as it handles the process of payroll and ensures the accuracy of our employee records. The Payroll Specialist will be expected to utilize various accounting software systems and stay updated on payroll procedures and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Process and manage time sheets and payroll using accounting software systems such as Deltek Costpoint and Paylocity.
- Maintain accurate employee data and up-to-date payroll records.
- Resolve any discrepancies relating to time sheets and payroll and respond to any employee questions.
- Stay current with the latest payroll trends, tax laws, and overall best practices.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure that Benefit Functions reflect accurate payroll deductions and record-keeping.
- Compute holdings, wages, garnishments, deductions and taxes.
- Audit and review timekeeping records for compliance, using established standards and guidelines.
- Set up new hires and terminations into the payroll system, controlling accumulators, and payroll totals for W-2 purposes.
- Prepare payroll reports and journal entries that need to be corrected when out of balance.
- Collaborate with the Accounting department to make sure there is accurate financial reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required with at least two years of direct payroll work experience OR (7) years of work-related experiences in lieu of a degree.
- Must have strong ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments, ensuring details are adhered to in executing tasks.
- At least (2) years of bookkeeping experience is required.
- Must have strong knowledge of general principles of accounting, its procedures and processes.
- Must exercise the highest level of confidentiality and always apply discretion.
- Intermediate MS Excel skills with working knowledge of MS Word and Outlook.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Comfortable with payroll and accounting analytics. Able to easily run reports and present findings with team members.
- U.S. Citizenship is required and eligibility to obtain a security clearance may be needed for the position.
- This a Hybrid position, requiring transportation to work in either Chantilly, Virginia, or be able to work remotely, meeting company requirements for internet/WIFI access.
