    Job Goal:
    Develop in each student an awareness of the role of science in economic and social progress; to motivate each student to acquire knowledge of scientific facts and principles and skills in scientific methods of problem solving; to discover and develop special talents of students in scientific fields.

    Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate learning experiences and teach the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilize innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; and plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines.
    • Utilize data-driven instructions to improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades.
    • Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations; implement procedures and routines that maximize student learning; respectfully respond to student misconduct using restorative practices; actively seek a variety of perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; and communicate and involve parent/guardians in all aspects of their child’s education.
    • Develop positive relationships with parents/families; encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents; provide proactive, clear, and constructive feedback to families about student progress and work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students; and foster two-way communication with families.
    • Exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high-quality professional learning; actively participate in the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and development of new strategies and techniques.
    • Participate in reflective dialogue with colleagues, focused on student learning, to enhance student learning and utilize shared values and norms to facilitate discussions in which all participants have a voice and contribute to the common goal.
    • Collaborate with special education and GT teachers to provide students with meaningful inclusion and extension opportunities.
    • Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, and collaboration; place children at the center of education and accept responsibility for each student’s academic success and well-being.
    • Supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc., and enforce safety and security standards set by the District.
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
    • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
    • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
    • Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
    • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
    • Administer group standardized tests according to the district testing program.
    • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
    • Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
    • Knowledgeable in literacy and mathematics and an expert in their content endorsement area.
    • Knowledgeable about classroom practice in order to successfully facilitate the learning environment and manage time, communications, and record-keeping procedures that will support and enhance student learning.
    • Chooses alternative teaching strategies and materials to achieve different curricular purposes.
    • Collects data on individual student achievement and is accountable for each child's learning.
    • Shall be knowledgeable about student electronic databases and grading software.
    • Is responsible for reviewing and applying individualized education programs, individual literacy plans, or advanced learning plans.
    • Shall be skilled in technology and is knowledgeable about using technology to support instruction and enhance student learning to individualize instruction
    • Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations in a timely and confidential manner.
    • Demonstrates professional cooperative relationships with others.
    • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Upholds all policies, rules and regulations, standards, and expectations that may be established by the state and federal authorities, RE-1 Valley School District, and immediate supervisor.
    • Follow State legal requirements, RE 1 Valley School District, and building policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in the content area or enrolled in a program leading towards obtaining such degree.
    • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in Science or a valid Colorado Substitute Teaching License and enrolled in a program working toward alternative licensure (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
    • Bachelors' Degree with a major or minor in science
    • Completed and submitted online application.
    • A current cover letter or letter of interest detailing information about the candidate and their interest in Caliche Schools.
    • A current professional resume.
    • Three current professional letters of reference.

    Caliche Elementary and Caliche Jr/Sr High School, located outside Iliff, CO, are a part of RE-1 Valley School District. The District Administration Center is located in Sterling, CO (Logan County) in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the Front Range (I-25 corridor).
