Job Description
RESPEC seeks an experienced Water Resources Engineer for our Anchorage, AK, location. The successful candidate will receive hands-on support and professional development from experienced senior engineers by working on a diverse range of water resource projects. This position involves hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling, and progressive planning and design of water resource projects. Interdisciplinary work with environmental, geotechnical, survey, and transportation staff is also anticipated. Responsibilities include:
- Work on multiple water resource projects simultaneously, proactively collaborating with team members and clients to resolve technical challenges
- Perform H&H analyses and modeling to support watershed planning and the design of hydraulic structures, such as culverts (including aquatic organism passage), bridges, diversions, revetments, stormwater management facilities, and storm drain systems.
- Perform site visits to collect data and confirm field conditions
- Prepare H&H reports and technical memorandums for a variety of clients
- Lead or assist with preparation of construction plans, specifications, and estimates
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications
- Communicate with clients and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Advanced level of oral and written communication skills
- Expertise in H&H analysis, modeling, and reporting.
Preferred:
- Alaska Professional Engineering License, or the ability to obtain within 1 year of start date
- Experience developing construction plans, specifications, and estimates
- Experience in environmental compliance and permitting
- Experience in drainage analysis, planning, and design
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and Civil 3D
- Practical application of various H&H modeling software (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Hydraulic Toolbox, HY-8, SWMM, etc.).
