Job Description
The primary role and responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician position include:
- Preparing laboratory samples of aggregates and soil
- Performing basic laboratory and field testing
- Maintaining a clean and organized laboratory
- Maintaining accurate records under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager
Duties as a Survey Assistant include:
- Providing support to a Land Surveyor by performing field tasks such as setting up survey equipment and taking measurements
The roles will require:
- Consistently operating a computer, including laboratory-testing equipment
- Frequently moving laboratory samples and survey equipment up to 50 pounds
- Regularly working and maneuvering outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Travel up to 25% in Alaska
Qualifications
This is an entry level position for a candidate willing to learn new tasks, but experience in a laboratory setting, earth sciences, and outdoor field work are a plus.
The Laboratory Technician/Survey Assistant must have:
- An associate degree and/or bachelor’s degree in progress
- 0 to 2 years of experience
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organization and multi-tasking skills
- Specialized knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Suite)
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and be least 18 years of age
Additional Information
This is a temporary full-time position from May through September 2025. Hourly wage depends on education and experience, plus statutory insurance requirements.
