Purpose and Mission

The Executive Director will be the guiding force behind REACH’s operations, responsible for ensuring the organization’s activities align with its mission. They’ll also need to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including the board of directors, staff, the local community, and donors. Additionally, the Executive Director will be the primary spokesperson for REACH, positioning them as a key figure in the local nonprofit community.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership:

  • Collaborating with the Board to define short- and long-term goals, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission.
  • Managing program operations to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Reporting to the Board on organizational activities.

Management & Administration:

  • Leading a diverse team, including staff and volunteers, ensuring they are aligned with REACH’s mission.
  • Managing resources efficiently and supporting staff development.
  • Providing consistent feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to staff.

Community Outreach & Communications:

  • Acting as the face of REACH in the community through public speaking, media appearances, and participation in community events.
  • Building and fostering relationships with local organizations, donors, and the public.
  • Responding to community inquiries about REACH’s activities.

Fundraising:

  • Maintaining relationships with funding sources and working with the Board to develop a fundraising strategy.
  • Planning and assisting with fundraising events.
  • Writing grants and seeking additional funding to support REACH’s mission.

Financial Management & Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations.
  • Collaborating with the Treasurer to create budgets and maintain financial controls.
  • Managing the organization’s finances in a transparent and accountable manner.

Leadership:

  • Inspiring staff, board members, and volunteers to embrace and support the mission of REACH.
  • Demonstrating creativity, strong organizational skills, and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Staying informed about trends and issues in domestic violence and sexual assault.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work (strongly preferred), or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in human services, with a focus on domestic/sexual violence.
  • Leadership in a nonprofit organization (3 years).

Knowledge of:

  • Nonprofit funding sources (government and private).
  • Nonprofit management and financial/legal compliance.
  • Domestic violence issues and resources.
  • Grant writing and fundraising strategies.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), including public speaking.
  • Familiarity with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Problem-solving, collaboration, and priority-setting abilities.
  • Ability to integrate REACH into local networks and maintain its standing in the community.

This role requires a dynamic and passionate leader who can manage multiple priorities, build relationships, and lead the organization toward achieving its mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Haywood County.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
