Summary
The Maintenance Custodian performs a variety of cleaning and custodial work in our warehouse facility. Performs routine housekeeping, groundskeeping and basic building maintenance assignments.
Essential Functions
- Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
- Consolidates cardboard waste and operates compactor.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes sanitary supplies.
- Cleans breakroom surfaces.
- Sweeps sidewalks and recreation areas, and performs light grounds keeping duties as necessary.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; performs room setups and teardowns for meetings and events.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Performs basic maintenance work including noncomplex electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical repairs.
- Operates and performs basic maintenance on power cleaning equipment.
- Operates hand and power tools.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
- Knowledge of grounds keeping methods, equipment and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance methods, tools and equipment.
- Ability to maintain assigned areas and buildings in a clean and orderly condition.
- Ability to perform grounds keeping work.
- Ability to perform basic building maintenance work and assignments.
- Ability to operate custodial and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to earn forklift certification.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to perform physical labor.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Must be able to stand up to 8 hours in a day.
- Must be able to walk up to 6 hours.
- Will continuously reach up and out.
- Will occasionally climb.
- Will regularly push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Will occasionally have repetitive foot movement.
- Will frequently have repetitive hand/arm movements for simple reaching, simple and firm grasping and/or fine hand manipulation.
- Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively to managers and employees.
- Must be proficient in mathematics.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportion to practical situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- The work performed is in a factory environment.
- The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations and dust and will be working around moving machinery.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
