Part-Time Instructor – Workforce Development & ESOL

- Teaching ESL
- Personal Care Assisting (PCA) or nursing, or other healthcare related field
Position Overview:
This role provides workforce development and soft skills instruction to adult learners, preparing them for entry-level jobs in specific career pathways. Instruction is contextualized to support career readiness, and lesson planning is paid.
Responsibilities: Instruction & Assessment:
- Deliver instruction in alignment with PCA career pathway, using provided curriculum
- Create and adapt lesson plans for a multi-level class
- Support students through individual conferences and meetings
- Refer students to additional Reading Connections programs as needed
Record-Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain student records (paper and database)
- Submit timely and accurate reports
- Provide instructional progress updates as needed
Training & Development:
- Complete all required paid training activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, literacy, TESOL, adult education, etc.) OR a two-year degree with sufficient relevant experience
- At least one year of experience in adult education or small-group instruction
- Learner-centered teaching philosophy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead group presentations and engage diverse learners
- Experience working with individuals facing educational or learning challenges
- General computer literacy
Position Details:
- Job Type: Part-time (8 - 25 hours per week)
- Pay: $18.50 per hour (includes paid lesson planning)
- Instruction Schedule:
- Monday/Wednesday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in High Point. (High Point program runs April 7 - Jun 20, 2025)
- Tuesday/Thursday/(some) Fridays, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm in Greensboro. (Greensboro program runs through May 15, 2025)
- Hybrid Remote: Teaching is in-person; lesson planning, preparation, and follow-ups can be done remotely
- Locations: Greensboro and High Point, NC
Preferred Experience & Certifications:
- Teaching ESL (TESOL certification preferred)
- PCA, nursing or other healthcare background (preferred)
- Teaching certification (preferred)
