What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist position at Reading Power, Inc.?
Working in partnership with underserved schools, Reading Power provides one-to-one tutoring during the school day for children in preschool through 2nd grade. Our mission is to accelerate children's literacy learning and to develop in them a love of reading and writing.
Responsibilities:
- Provide literacy support to staff
- Provide onsite support, including tutoring at any of our school locations
- Develop and support implementation of program enhancements
- Develop and provide ongoing training for staff and tutors
- Create and provide resources and materials to support programs
- Collaborate in reviewing assessments and analyzing data
- Model Reading Power’s best teaching and learning practices for staff and tutors
- Provide staff updates on current trends and research in literacy
- Support organizational events
- Support the Director and Associate Director of Programs as well as the Community Engagement and Volunteer Manager and Coordinator
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the quality and efficient functioning of Reading Power
- Attend monthly staff meetings and occasional evening events
Qualifications:
- Degree in education, Master's degree preferred
- Strong organizational, managerial, and communication skills
- Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
- Adaptability and flexibility are necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on lifelong learning
- Current teaching license is preferred
- Passion for Reading Power mission
