Position Summary:

The Regional EHS Manager has multi-site responsibility for EHS compliance in Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental arenas at locations in the U.S. This EHS Regional Manager will lead internal EHS audit preparation, create programs, policies and implement changes within EHS, and will work closely with facility management, operations directors and corporate EHS.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate on site leadership team in the areas of Operating Plans, Strategic Planning, Corporate HSE initiatives, internal auditing, management systems, compliance initiatives and governmental/regulatory reporting.
  • Lead EHS culture change within RTE sites and facilities
  • Develop detailed scope of work for implementation of programs and prioritization
  • Provide EHS technical support for projects within the various locations; serves as the site EHS technical expert
  • Fulfill a leadership role in coordinating successful implementation of compliant Industrial Hygiene Programs
  • Assume role of OSHA respiratory program administrator as needed
  • Conduct inspections and assessments to evaluate the site's compliance with OSHA standards; prioritizes programs to address identified gaps; maintain company safety metrics and OSHA 300 logs
  • Develop and maintain procedures and programs to ensure continued compliance with all local, state, and federal, and company requirements
  • Serve as a liaison and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies (including inspections) and insuring the best possible outcome
  • Assist and develop required training programs (if gaps are identified) and maintain employee safety training records and coordinates retraining to ensure compliance
  • Interpret existing and proposed changes regarding occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Report and communicate incidents per the Company protocol; tracks, reports, and analyzes EHS performance and implements corrective action as necessary
  • Develop and implement site emergency response plans and serve as the emergency coordinator for events
  • Lead site level root cause incident investigations; assist in developing and implementing corrective actions to resolve EHS issues and track action items to closure
  • DOT compliance
  • Submit monthly/quarterly/annual corporate reports per requirements
  • Manage expenditures in accordance with budgetary process and manage site EHS projects to budget
  • Manage RTE workers compensation claims to effective completion and coordinate with Corporate EHS as needed on claims management
  • Perform Job Safety Assessments (JSA), PPE Assessments, and assist team members with incident investigations
  • Develop Emergency, Contingency/Response Plans, and environmental compliance documentation as needed
  • Ensure internal environmental requirements including programs and guidelines by maintaining and monitoring a compliance calendar (including State issued Air Permits, RCRA Hazardous Waste Regulations, Storm Water Regulations, and Storage Tanks. Prepare and implement written environmental programs and policies)
  • Perform and/or coordinate environmental sampling and (IH) monitoring to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and best practices
  • Analyze/interpret plant safety metrics to proactively target and eliminate injuries, reduce injury rates and achieve positive outcomes through development and execution of corrective actions and strategic plans
  • Ensure accurate and timely EHS record keeping, document management and effective case management
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit all records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies including the Tier 2 & form R reporting, (Sara 312/313) TRI, Annual emissions for paint booths, and Biennial Reports if identified as necessary.

Financial Responsibility

  • No cost center responsibility; no profit & loss responsibility

Position Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree required in EHS discipline or related science or engineering

Experience:

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field
  • Experience with paint booths and surface coatings highly desired
  • Must have previous multi-site responsibility in heavy or light manufacturing in all disciplines of EHS
  • Experience in the transportation or truck industry is a plus

Certification /License:

  • Preferred ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or progress to completing similar certifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in metals assembly, welding, multi shop based manufacturing helpful
  • Must be safety culture subject matter expert with the ability to drive chance
  • RCRA Training completed
  • Ability to generate regulatory reports, and communicate results with regulatory agencies
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and complete projects
  • Ground water and soil remediation experience a plus
  • Team approach to solve problems and build relationships
  • Must be self-driven, results oriented and extremely organized
  • Strong analytical skills for problem solving and managing multiple sites and tasks
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with leaders and hourly staff in all business divisions and corporate functions
  • Possess the vision to achieve a zero-index safety culture
  • Must possess exceptional influencing skills to implement necessary culture change in a turn-around lean environment supporting the corporate EHS strategies, goals and objectives
  • Able to effectively build, lead and collaborate on teams
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint - required

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • None

Work environment:

  • Work occurs in an office and light manufacturing environment
  • Sedentary work with extended periods of computer use
  • Occasional work in warehouse/manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE)

Travel:

  • Frequent travel approximately 40 to 50%
