Qualifications:

2.Crisis Prevention Institute Training or willingness to acquire training

Reports to: Director of Program Advancement and Related District Support Services
Supervised by: Teacher/Director of Program Director
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide academic support and Social Emotional Learning coaching to students within the therapeutic classroom and when they transition to general educational settings.
Conduct instructional/therapeutic activities and tasks with individuals and groups in accordance with the lesson plan and guidelines of the teacher; provide feedback to teachers regarding the implementation of these lessons; and make recommendations for student improvement.
Cooperate with and support each teacher's approach in conducting the classroom in terms of structure, assignments, and discipline. Take individual initiative to contract with students under the supervision and direction of the teacher.
Take individual responsibility to understand the various student-related policies such as the Student Handbook and the Level System and implement them as part of assigned responsibility.
Maintain record-keeping systems such as grades and data collection during assigned activities and classes. Complete paperwork and other assignments as requested by the Teacher or Program Director.
Develop a positive rapport with students. Take responsibility for providing feedback on behavior to individual students, under the teacher's direction.
Substitute for teachers, as needed and as assigned, including maintaining parent communication and record-keeping in a teacher's absence.
Supervise and coordinate lunch, recess, student breaks, detention, in school suspension, bus arrival, and dismissal, and other non-instructional activities as assigned.
Attend and participate in any meetings as requested.
Assist in maintaining the facility in a presentable condition and take responsibility for the proper care of school materials and supplies.
Implement school procedures for all emergency situations deferring judgment to a teacher, counselor, or administrator when present.
Attend parent conferences and Parents' Night activities as requested.
Demonstrate ethical behavior towards colleagues and students and in relationships with others in the community.
Contribute as a member of a team, permitting others to do the same, and accept the decision of the group.

Terms of Employment
Work Year: 183 days (plus the option of working the 5 week Summer Program)
