Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to ensure the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors within our workplace. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing safety programs, conducting safety audits, training employees, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of safety regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively to create a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with applicable safety regulations and company standards.
- Compliance: Monitor and enforce adherence to safety regulations, OSHA standards, and other local, state, and federal requirements. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of safety-related incidents and inspections.
- Training and Education: Provide safety training sessions for employees on topics such as proper equipment use, emergency response procedures, and hazard recognition. Organize regular drills and refresher courses to maintain awareness.
- Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of facilities and work areas to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports and follow up on the implementation of safety improvements.
- Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of workplace accidents, near misses, and injuries. Document findings, root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures. Coordinate and lead emergency response teams during drills or actual emergencies.
- Reporting: Compile and report safety performance data to management. Track and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with management, supervisors, and employees to promote a safety-first culture. Provide guidance on safety-related concerns and recommend solutions to mitigate risks.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of required PPE for all employees. Conduct regular checks to ensure PPE standards are met.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety coordination role, preferably within [specific industry, e.g., construction, manufacturing, etc.]. Experience with OSHA regulations and safety standards is highly desirable.
- Certifications: OSHA Certification (30-hour or 10-hour) or similar safety certifications preferred. CPR and First Aid certification a plus.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct training and safety audits effectively.
- Problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
