Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Operations Data Analyst to join our team at a fast-paced food manufacturing plant. In this role, you will work closely with our Cost Accountant and provide critical support in generating daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Your role will be integral to ensuring accurate data analysis, performance tracking, and cost management to help drive operational efficiency and decision-making. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection & Reporting:
- Gather, organize, and analyze operational data from production, inventory, and cost accounting systems.
- Develop and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports on KPIs, including production output, waste, labor efficiency, and material usage.
- Assist the Cost Accountant in maintaining accurate cost-tracking models and performance dashboards.
Data Analysis & Insights:
- Identify trends, patterns, and outliers to highlight opportunities for cost-saving measures and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Operational Support:
- Monitor production metrics and communicate findings to plant managers and other stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations to improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize resource allocation.
- Assist in ensuring data accuracy within ERP and reporting systems by reconciling discrepancies.
Ad Hoc Analysis & Special Projects:
- Work with the CFO to support financial and operational decision-making through custom reports and data analysis.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing data-driven insights.
- Develop automated solutions for recurring reports where possible.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Experience working with cost accounting or supporting financial reporting functions is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and other data management tools.
- Strong understanding of production metrics, costing methodologies, and financial analysis principles.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with both financial and operational teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry or a similar process-driven environment.
- Knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles.
