Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Director to lead and oversee the maintenance operations of our SQF-certified food manufacturing facility. The facility includes ovens, conveyor belts, friers, and other processing equipment critical to food production. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance processes, and driving continuous improvement to maximize plant efficiency and food safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership & Operations
- Lead and manage the maintenance department, including hiring, training, and developing a high-performing team.
- Establish and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
- Oversee repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ovens, conveyor systems, friers, and other production machinery.
- Develop and maintain a maintenance schedule that minimizes production downtime while ensuring timely repairs.
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with SQF, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and GMP requirements in all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance procedures, work orders, and equipment history for audits and regulatory inspections.
- Implement and enforce sanitation procedures for food-processing equipment to meet food safety standards.
- Collaborate with the QA and Production teams to address food safety concerns related to equipment and facility conditions.
Process Improvement & Cost Control
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and lower maintenance costs.
- Manage and optimize spare parts inventory to support preventive maintenance while controlling costs.
- Develop and manage the department budget, including capital expenditure planning for equipment upgrades and replacements.
- Implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives related to facility maintenance.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to OSHA and company safety standards.
- Conduct safety training and enforce proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for all equipment.
- Lead the investigation of equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 7 years of maintenance leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of food processing equipment such as ovens, fryers, conveyors, pumps, and motors.
- Experience with SQF, HACCP, GMP, and food safety compliance.
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking work orders and equipment maintenance.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience managing a 24/7 production facility is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, and humid conditions.

Pay: $145,000.00 - $155,000.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
