REAL Journey Academies (RJA) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in the Inland Empire. We aim to impact and revitalize communities through the development of education and other supportive partnerships.
Job Purpose:
Entrepreneur High Schools (Fontana and San Bernardino) are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Tech to maintain and support various specialized machines across both campuses. The Machine Tech will be responsible for the daily maintenance, minor repairs, and network connectivity of machines, including screen printers, embroidery machines, UV printers, 3D printers, large format printers, white toner printers, industrial copy printers, laser engravers, milling machines, and poster plotters. This role also involves working closely with vendors for major repairs and updating content on school video boards as needed. The Machine Tech will also train support personnel on proper machine use and upkeep.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of all machines, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Conduct minor repairs on machines, diagnosing issues and troubleshooting problems to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with vendors and external technicians for major machine repairs and part replacements.
- Conduct software and firmware updates for all machines and desktops.
- Maintain records of licensing for all software, ensuring compliance and tracking renewals on a regular schedule.
- Create, maintain, and update an inventory of all equipment, including machines, desktops, and related accessories, with regular reviews.
- Maintain records for machine repairs, servicing, and maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and consistent upkeep of all equipment.
- Ensure network connectivity for machines requiring network integration and troubleshoot any connectivity issues.
- Ensure all machines meet proper safety guidelines and industry standards for operation.
- Update content on school video boards upon receiving new material, coordinating with the school’s administration to ensure timely updates.
- Provide training and support to school support personnel on machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and alignment to meet the specifications required for different tasks and projects.
- Monitor supply levels and inventory consumables such as ink and toner, and collaborate with the internship coordinators to order supplies when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Work at both Entrepreneur High School campuses (Fontana and San Bernardino) as needed to ensure all machines are properly maintained.
Expectations:
- Adhere to all school district policies and procedures regarding machine operations and repairs.
- Maintain regular attendance; adhere to RJA practice regarding attendance and leaves of absence.
- Perform all outlined duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems related to a variety of machines, including printers, engravers, and milling machines.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize machine downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Networking Knowledge: Proficient in IT networking, ensuring that all networked machines are properly connected and configured for optimal use.
- Record-Keeping: Excellent organizational skills for maintaining accurate records of machine maintenance schedules, repairs, and vendor communications.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with vendors, school staff, and support personnel.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to carefully monitor machine performance, safety compliance, and proper setup to ensure smooth and safe operation.
- Time Management: Efficient in managing multiple tasks, including machine maintenance, repairs, training sessions, and updates to video boards, across both school campuses.
- Training Ability: Capable of training support personnel on machine operation, maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting.
- Adaptability: Able to respond to immediate technical issues, and adjust maintenance schedules and duties based on the needs of both school campuses.
- Physical Dexterity: Ability to physically interact with machines, including lifting, adjusting, and performing repairs as necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working with machines such as screen printers, embroidery machines, UV printers, 3D printers, large format printers, industrial copiers, laser engravers, milling machines, and poster plotters.
- Knowledge of machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair processes.
- IT knowledge to ensure machines are properly networked and connected for optimal performance.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills to track repairs, maintenance schedules, and vendor interactions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, school staff, and support personnel.
- Willingness to train support personnel on machine operations and maintenance.
- Ability to travel between both school campuses as required.
Physical demands:
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to physically interact with and maintain various machines, including lifting parts, making adjustments, and performing repairs.
- Willingness to work during school hours, evenings, or weekends as necessary for machine maintenance or repairs.
- Willingness to travel between both schools as needed.
