SUMMARY
The Utah Royals are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging individual to represent our beloved mascot, Cleo, at various events throughout the Salt Lake area. As a part-time mascot, you will be the face of the team at Royals and Real Salt Lake home matches, community events, watch parties, and more. We are looking for someone who has a passion for performance and loves engaging with fans of all ages.
No body type or height requirements, as we will tailor the mascot sizing based on the selected individual.
Tryout Details:
Applicants must be willing to attend an in-person tryout to be considered for the role. The tryout will take place in April.
RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:
- Represents Cleo the mascot at Utah Royals events, including home matches at America First Field, community appearances, watch parties, and partner events.
- Participates in pre-game, in-game, and post-game entertainment for Utah Royals and Real Salt Lake fans.
- Demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, and a fun demeanor while interacting with fans and guests at all events.
- Uphold the standards of the Cleo character in every situation, including on-field skits, dances, pre-taped videos, in-stand interactions, and off-site community appearances.
- Engage and entertain fans during all types of events, both in and out of costume.
- Maintain professionalism while representing the Utah Royals at all times.
- Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Outgoing and energetic personality, with a genuine passion for interacting with fans.
- Ability to perform in a mascot suit, which may include limited visibility and the ability to maintain energy for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the Salt Lake area
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required for events and home games.
- Must be available to attend the majority of Utah Royals home games in 2025.
- Ability to pass a background check and become safe sport certified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior performing experience including but not limited to cheer, gymnastics, dance or related.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 30 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
