JOB SUMMARY

This full-time hourly position is responsible for washing all dishes, pots, pans, maintaining cleanliness of the dish room, putting away stock and assisting with cleaning floors and assisting with any building maintenance. The work week consists of 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESinclude the following:

· Cleaning of all pots, pans and dishes

· Putting away of stock

· Cleaning all areas of the dish room and building, including windows. Cleaning includes sweeping, moping, dusting, sanitizing, waxing, and all activities required to maintain the dish room and building to the highest standard possible.

· Painting areas in need

· May assist with shoveling of snow, weeding and maintenance of outside grounds

· Fill in delivering meals to various Nutrition Sites and homebound clients

· Other duties may be assigned and/or requested from time to time in fulfilment of the agency’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent is responsible for cleaning all pots, pans and dishes, maintaining the dish room and assisting with maintaining the building and grounds, making sure all areas are clean and in good working condition as well as putting away stock. The success of the position relates to the continued excellence of the Health Department Inspections. This position is also responsible for making sure the building is kept in good condition for the safety of all volunteers, visitors and staff. This includes making sure the floors are clean, furniture is in good condition; the aisles are clean and clear. The position creates a regular routine to make sure the building is kept clean so that all work and visit have a pleasing visit to the facility. Bathrooms are to be kept in good working condition and must be kept clean. This position will be available to work evening caterings as necessary, helping to set up and clean up as needed. The incumbent will handle additional errands as deemed necessary by the Director of Nutrition or Kitchen Coordinator.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· High School or Vocational School Coursework

· Prior work experience preferred, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

· Knowledge of dishwashing equipment

· Knowledge of floor cleaning equipment

· Good/Clean driving record

· Ability to lift milk-crates, pans of food, etc.

· Organized and flexible

· Knowledge of Health Department regulations

DIFFICULTY OF WORK

This position requires ability to operate small outdoor equipment and have a working knowledge of plumbing. This position requires the ability to operate floor cleaning and polishing equipment and any other cleaning equipment to maintain the building. This position must also have the ability to lift furniture, equipment, food, and supplies, food pans, some of which may be very heavy or hot/cold without spilling or dropping the food.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually on their feet. While putting away supplies, the employee may be required to go up and down stairs and may be asked to work in the cooler or freezer to put supplies away or get supplies out. Physical effort is required. Some inclement weather may be encountered while performing duties.
  • Valid driver’s license

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Successful candidate must submit to a pre-employment drug screening and a limited criminal history check.

· Proof of educational credentials is required at time of employment.
