What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Safety Project Engineer position at Real Staffing?
Our team is seeking a Machine Safety Project Engineer to join a large, globally recognized medical device manufacturer. This project is slated to run at least 3-4 years, primarily addressing machine safety gaps in the machinery at their site.
Update on the project:
- We already have a list of hazards define for machines at the site. Looking for someone to do low complexity changes. Can be very simple like updating safety documentation, remediating gaps. Some machines are missing warning labels we need to get on there.
- There can be some simple hazards, trip hazards, e-stops we are missing.
- As of right now for this year trying to take on low hanging fruit for those hazards already defined.
- Getting engineers to work on this too and they can support on more complex hazards.
- We have a system called M-COM where we hold our database of hazards for machines assigned.
- Some data clean up we need to do - have some gaps that need to be filled.
- They'll manage that system, help with gaps an remediate those. Help with on the floor things. Multi year initiative to reduce hazards we have for our machines
Requirements for the role:
- Seeking engineers with at least 2 years of experience, ideally executing on optimization, machine related projects. Other related disciplines would include Manufacturing, Process, Process Control, and Continuous Improvement Engineering.
- Machine safety is fine as a baseline, no automation work is necessary.
- Bonus to have understanding of electrical systems, circuits, if we want to put an e-stop button in there.
- We do have safety systems, not your standard PLCs from automation standpoint but we could have safety controllers that are basic systems handling just safety components knowledge of that would be a plus.
