Job Description
The Pharmacy Aid/Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in our closed-door, long-term care pharmacy by assisting the pharmacist in medication preparation and dispensing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety. Experience with blister packaging and a willingness to learn point-of-sale (POS) systems are essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medications for long-term care facilities, including blister packaging
- Work with others in a team setting to complete common goal
- Ability to learn how to troubleshoot BD Parata Synmed Ultra machine
- Prepare and label medications accurately, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Maintain the pharmacy inventory and order supplies as needed
- Learn and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for occasional retail transactions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certification (highly encouraged)
- Experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably with blister packaging or long-term care
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy procedures and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and operate POS systems
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
Call Center Technician - Pharmacy Aid/Certified Pharmacy Tech - Closed Door/ Long Term Care
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Aid/Certified Pharmacy Technician will be essential to closed-door, long-term care pharmacy by supporting the pharmacist with medication preparation and dispensing. This role is also responsible for promptly and effectively answering phone calls from patients, providers, insurance companies, and other store locations. Acting as an advocate for the patient to ensure the patient's monthly medication regimen is consistent and effective. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of pharmacy procedures and attention to detail, and be committed to patient safety.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medications for long-term care facilities
- High volume of calls and ensure that prescriptions are processed accurately and in a timely manner
- Taking prescription information (data entry) from customers over the phone, verifying insurance coverage, and answering questions about medications.
- Additional responsibilities include data entry, maintaining patient records, and coordinating with insurance companies and healthcare providers.
- Learn and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for occasional retail transactions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist
