Overview
The ReAlta Life Sciences Research Associate I plans and conducts laboratory and animal research projects to support the company’s research and development objectives. The Research Associate I works under the general supervision of the Chief Scientific Officer and the Laboratory Manager and may also support projects led by external research partners as assigned. The Research Associate I reports to the Lab Manager.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Manager of Translational Research, perform a range of tasks related to animal husbandry, handling, and monitoring. This includes ensuring the health and well-being of laboratory animals, handling and monitoring animals in accordance with established protocols, and supporting daily husbandry activities to ensure proper care.
- Proficiency in basic algebra for preparing chemical solutions and dilutions.
- Preferred experience with immunological and biochemical procedures such as ELISA, cell culture, histology, and microscopy. Experience with handling proteins and peptides is a plus.
- Develop and maintain databases to record lab data and maintain lab notebooks. Analyze and summarize collected data.
- Attend and present current research data at laboratory meetings.
- Assist with preparation of manuscripts for publication and poster/presentations for national/international meetings.
- Assist the Lab Manager and other staff with administrative activities such as laboratory and clinical QC review and maintenance of electronic files.
- Maintain daily operations of lab including cleaning, supply inventory, maintaining equipment, and inventorying chemicals.
- Assist with compiling literature reviews and competitive intelligence.
- Perform tasks and responsibilities in compliance with applicable SOPs, company policies and procedures, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required, with two or more years of relevant laboratory experience preferred. Ability to work independently is essential along with strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Experience with animal work and a background in peptide/protein work preferred.
