The Director, FP&A leads the creation and analysis of the corporate earnings model to support strategic decision-making. This role is individually responsible to prepare detailed financial reports for lenders and rating agencies, as well as supporting the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes. This role closely collaborates with executive leadership and department heads to update, analyze, and evaluate financial projections and capital needs.
Specifically, the Director, FP&A has responsibility for:
- Financial Modeling
- Update, refine, and lead the management of the corporate earnings model.
- Prepare monthly corporate earnings memo in support of BOD and executive meetings.
- Lead monthly cash flow meeting explaining key updates to corporate earnings projections.
- Prepare sensitivity analysis for the CFO.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Participate in the annual budget process.
- Participate in the quarterly forecast processes.
- Review internal reporting of budget to actual variances and trend analysis.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare note and credit facility covenants for lenders.
- Prepare earnings, liquidity, and leverage forecast reports for credit rating agencies.
- Treasury / Debt Management
- Write reports out of the debt management system.
- Ad-hoc requests from the CFO regarding cash flow scenario analyses, debt defeasance/make whole breakeven analyses, etc.
- Support Treasury and Derivatives team in modeling cash flow from international jurisdictions, with the goal of measuring FX earnings volatility exposure for hedging purposes.
- Assist with reviewing credit agreement renewals and amendments.
- Capital Markets
- Evaluate capital raising strategies with investment banking partners.
What you need to be successful:
- It is expected to execute the duties of this position a qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, accounting, or finance, or equivalent training in addition to a minimum of 7 years’ experience in industry, equity research, corporate strategy, finance, investment banking, or consulting.
- Must have experience building complex 3 statement financial models (multicurrency or joint venture fund preferred).
- Strong financial acumen; familiar with all the company’s key financial statements.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving/analytical abilities, time management skills, and critical-thinking ability.
- Clear and thorough understanding of financial modeling used by investment professionals to value the organization’s performance.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to large groups and very senior levels of management.
- Good PC skills, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent PC skills in Excel (including but not limited to lookups, complex/compound equations, logical equations, macros, pivot tables, and the ability to understand/build/edit complex financial models).
- Experience with Yardi general ledger software.
- Experience with Adaptive Insights budgeting software.
- REIT or real estate industry experience required.
- MBA, CFA, and/or CPA preferred.
The base salary for this role is in the range of ($126,891 - $187,723). You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
