Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Asphalt Plant Maintenance operator to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and machinery at our asphalt plant, including the rock conveyor system used for unloading rail cars. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient operation of the plant and related systems by performing regular maintenance and addressing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues as they arise. Common daily activities would include greasing, taking temperature of bearings etc. This role requires a proactive, safety-conscious individual with a strong mechanical aptitude, an ability to work independently, and the capability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular maintenance on asphalt plant equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, burners, silos, and other plant machinery.
• Oversee the maintenance of the rock conveyor system, including unloading systems for rail cars. This includes tasks such as:
• Replacing rollers and pulleys to ensure smooth operation.
• Greasing and lubricating the conveyor system to minimize wear and tear.
• Ensuring the system is free of blockages and debris.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within the plant, focusing on both routine and emergency repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of plant machinery and conveyor systems to identify and address potential issues before they cause downtime.
• Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule to optimize equipment lifespan and plant productivity.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment inspections.
• Assist in the installation / testing new equipment or system upgrades, including conveyor systems.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns, performing repairs quickly to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
• Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner by adhering to company safety policies / procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment, preferably in an asphalt plant, aggregate, or similar industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting conveyor systems, including replacing rollers, pulleys, and performing lubrication.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, handling multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Working Conditions:

• The position involves outdoor work in a range of weather conditions.
• Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and other environmental factors typical of an asphalt and aggregate plant.
• Physical demands include climbing, lifting, bending, and operating machinery.
• The role may require working at heights, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment.
