Youth Essentials Coordinator (YEC) is a position focused on advocacy, innovation, and leadership development. YEC’s work with students from 3rd - 12th grade in one of our three programs: Solutions, Renaissance, and/or Reflections. All three programs are unique in their practice and curriculum. Your experience with youth advocacy, gentle and guided leadership, enrichment activities and creative projects, and/or entrepreneurial development will make you an all-star in this role. This position will primarily support the Solutions program.
Solutions Program Summary:
A year around leadership program that engages student voice among business and community leaders. This flagship program was developed to elevate student voice with the affirmation, “you are not the problem but the solution”.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Facilitate REAP core programs at an assigned public school in the Portland Metropolitan area. Includes meeting with teachers & counselors to support academic, social & emotional learning of students.
- Attend all staff meetings at the REAP headquarters at 10808 NE Halsey St. in Portland once a week.
- Attend additional on-site program meetings and trainings as needed.
- Assist with the coordination of program reporting, including data compilation and analysis.
- Research community leadership opportunities for students and manage program specifics and community events related to leadership & business innovation.
- Facilitate classroom visits to report school climate trends and student classroom support follow-up.
- Assist with the weekly caseload of 1:1 student advocacy meetings.
- Prepare and plan program activities and curriculum.
- Regularly meet with students to provide support and guidance.
- Actively recruit students to participate in the Renaissance program.
- Collaborate with the Renaissance team for updates and coordination.
- Track and monitor student performance and grades throughout the year.
- Specifically target and support marginalized male students at our sites.
Qualifications
- Two years minimum experience working with school aged youth in group scenarios (10-15 youth) preferably in an academic and/or enrichment environment.
- Understanding of supporting and working with multicultural youth and/or communities - Highly Valuable.
- Working knowledge of networking and fundraising skills.
- Associates Degree and/or Bachelors Degree in Social Services, Teaching, and/or related field - Preferred but not required.
- Solution-oriented working practice and ability to lead projects independently.
Salary : $22 - $25
