The Reaves Law Firm is seeking a strategic, hands-on CFO who will manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting and tax departments; ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and tax compliance. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department. This includes the conduction of weekly Leve-10 meetings with the Accounting Department to ensure alignment on key issues.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure that financial information is processed and reported in a timely manner.
- Establish clear deadlines for each step in the accounting process and ensure that team members adhere to them.
- Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Review and publish financial statements and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Provide financial information and analysis to the members of the C-suite.
- Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Research and communicate accounting updates for compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including income tax and sales tax.
- Supervise and manage the accounting/finance team, including training, and performance management.
- Monitor the progress of accounting tasks and take corrective action if necessary to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years of leadership/management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, QuickBooks Online, Lacerte and Canopy
