Job Summary: The Regional Director of Engineering ensures proper operations across several properties. The role provides leadership and guidance to personnel in maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, and other equipment/work for a cluster of hotels. This role also provides Area Leadership to maximize assets, drive guest satisfaction, support business performance, and enhance the Rebel brand. Additionally, the role provides strategic direction to the GMs, Facility Engineers, Chief Engineers, Directors of Engineering, and the Area /Market Vice Presidents to ensure the effective delivery of results, execution of initiatives, and to identify talent in their area. The position provides an Engineering & Facilities perspective to help make optimal business decisions and sets overall direction to ensure that area practices are aligned with the business and brand strategies.
This leadership role has overall responsibility for managing and implementing the engineering strategy for their area. It defines and presents opportunities for operational improvement, evaluating risks, working within an area of expertise to provide effective solutions, and implementing systems and processes that leverage and support enterprise strategies to maximize guest satisfaction and engineering performance. This individual works in a complex matrix environment and balances the sometimes-diverging expectations of the property, the brand, and the Engineering discipline.

Key Responsibilities
- Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates, ensuring they perform per established brand or hotel standards and are consistent with Rebel's core values.
- Assist Regional VP of Operations and Hotel General Managers with the annual property-level staffing and budgeting to ensure proper maintenance of hotel assets.
- Assist with the interviewing and selection of Property Level Chief Engineers, ensuring they meet the requirements with established brand or hotel standards and are consistent with Rebel's core values.
- Assist with the training of Property Level Chief Engineers to carry out duties effectively.
- Educate and train property level Engineers on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations.
- Monitor the execution and achievement of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program goals.
- Provide guidelines and assistance on reduction in energy usage through training and focus on best practice directives.
- Assist in setting procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, basic supplies, TVs, and standard supplies within hotels.
- Establish guidelines for the replenishment of necessary basic engineering supplies in an efficient manner.
- Promote and enforce organized staff management by property heads.
- Provide operations teams with front-line support in times of emergency mechanical or natural disaster situations.
- Ensure properties have written guidelines detailing the procedures that staff will implement during times of emergencies.
- Perform engineering audits per hotel as directed by laws/regulations or Rebel.
- Oversee the management of special capital projects such as major mechanical replacements.
- Report on all relevant property issues and projects bi-weekly to corporate-level stakeholders.
- Assist properties in securing and reviewing competitive bids for capital projects through preferred vendors and local vendors.
- Assist staff in properly cataloging all property mechanical equipment with location, origination date, make model, and known repairs.
- Assist staff in compiling property folders of equipment and building system warranties.
- Inform senior leadership of recommendations for asset preservation of major mechanical repair/replacement during the budget process.
- Provide input to General Managers on the performance of engineering staff during property visits.
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
- Perform other duties as requested by leadership.
- A high school diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is required.
- At least five years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a two-year college degree and three or more years of related experience; or a four-year college degree and at least two years of related experience.
- Current Certification as required by Federal, State, or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (i.e., HVAC, pool operation, electrical), property specific.
- Exceptional Leadership Skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Current certification and licensing to operate and repair the hotels' boilers and chillers as required by state, city, and local legislation.
- Current Fire Life Safety Director certification required, building specific certificate due within 6 months of hire.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

- Travel to various properties within the portfolio to provide on-site support; travel outside of NYC may be required at times.
- Hospitality industry standards for employee/guest interaction and professionalism are expected.
- Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends or alternate shifts.
- Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
