Applications Engineer

About the Role :

As an Applications Engineer, you will analyze, design, develop, integrate, implement, test, optimize, configure and support multiple applications (some commercially available and some custom) across the organization as well as monitor applications performance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Monitor application performance seeking efficient resource usage and optimization, plan for and make appropriate modifications or configuration changes to achieve optimization goals and stabilize system operations
• Assist with the selection, implementation and support of purchased software, and / or the design, implementation and support of custom developed systems that meet end user requirements
• Manage the integration with other systems, including integration of production equipment
• Coordinate release management activities to ensure that the company's Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) / ITIL change and release management process is followed
• Act as Project Lead on assigned projects, managing system risks and quality issues, meeting service delivery goals and following industry standards and best practices
• Ensure integrity, integration and stability of production systems
• Elicit user requirements from key stakeholders and develop appropriate technical specifications for software, equipment and performance requirements
• Provide accurate estimates for completion of assigned tasks
• Write computer programs or use existing computer programs to adapt chosen equipment to specific job applications
• Perform other programming, system configuration, and maintenance tasks on applications and system interfaces as needed to support ongoing operations
• Ensure that maximum value is being derived from assigned systems, and collaborate on system management, testing, deployment and disaster recovery
• Provide timely technical support including design, layout, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance services for assigned applications to end users
• Provide application support and training to end users on production systems and maintain training documentation
• Work with the Information Technology (IT) team and collaborate with peers on system management, testing and development to enhance applications where needed
• Participate in audits of IT projects to ensure they meet process standards
• Report status of active projects to management, customers, and other team member
• Actively participate in IT and project team meetings within primary and remote sites
• Stay apprised of emerging technologies and make recommendations for their use
• Ensure Software License Agreements are followed
