Responsibilities
- Share assessment results with staff to plan home learning activities, family nights, and educational activities.
- Coordinate training for parents interested in volunteering in the classroom.
- Provide parents with information and assistance in understanding and advocating for services for children with special needs.
- Participate in leadership team meetings and case conferences to ensure service coordination across the Head Start program.
- Ensure teachers send home weekly communications to promote family engagement.
- Assist in producing at least eight center-wide newsletters annually.
- Attend local, state, and regional initiatives for professional development and to represent the center.
- Work closely with the Transition/Disabilities Manager to support arrangements for children with suspected disabilities.
- Maintain filing, tracking, and documentation systems for early childhood education services, ensuring confidentiality.
- Track child outcomes and program quality assessment results, analyze data, and make program development recommendations.
- Supervise and support teachers in developing individual development plans and training plans.
- Conduct strategic recruitment and selection processes to ensure a pool of qualified and diverse applicants.
- Lead curriculum and assessment decisions with appropriate policy council involvement.
- Promote a cooperative environment within the leadership of the center.
Qualifications
- BS in Early Childhood Education or related field; MA preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including effective oral and written communication.
- Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, and internet navigation.
- Ability to lift children weighing 40 - 50 pounds in an emergency.
