As a CSR for our Patient Financial Services (PFS) division, your primary responsibility is to assist patients in understanding and resolving their outstanding healthcare bills. You will be tasked with communicating account information, updating insurance and billing claims, establishing payment solutions, and resolving disputes for medical facilities in a high volume, inbound/outbound, friendly, and relaxed call center environment.
We are seeking mature individuals who can work effectively in a fast paced, goal-oriented environment, demonstrate persistence and a sense of urgency to resolve all outstanding balances, and be valuable team members. In addition, individuals who are successful in remaining calm and composed while also displaying a professional and compassionate tone during difficult customer interactions. Those who can remain focused and attentive to answering patient inquiries, listen to patient complaints to resolve specific issues, and move quickly to the next call will excel in this position and recognized for their hard work and performance.

Primary Responsibilities
- Process patient billing inquiries include explaining charges, services, and insurance coverage details to patients or their representatives.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring accurate billing, and address claim denials.
- Identify & explain patient’s out of pocket responsibilities.
- Facilitate payment plans and/or financial assistance programs for patients unable to pay their bills in full.
- Identifying and correcting billing errors or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve claims issues.
- Timely manage the collection of unpaid accounts.
- Daily monitoring of patient account activity via work queues and schedules.
- Managing your patient contacts through an Inbound/outbound dialer system.
- Timely research patient disputes and inquiries.
- Meet and exceed personal and departmental goals.
- Full compliance with all federal and state laws; adherence to RMC policies and procedures; and observance of client specific insurance and healthcare requirements.
Skill sets are we looking for:
- Healthcare billing & Insurance knowledge and background.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong aptitude to work on multiple systems simultaneously – including electronic health record billing systems, collections systems, payments systems, Microsoft office, etc. If you have no experience in one or more of the listed systems, you must be able to demonstrate quick adaptation to computer systems.
- Excellent customer service, telephone, and listening skills. Must be articulate and professional.
- Demonstrate the ability to work successfully independently with minimum supervision.
Rewarded “Plus” Skills
- Spanish speaking
- EPIC health record system and/or Ontario FACS collections software
- Extensive claims processing and/or medical billing experience with proven references
- Over 5 documented years in a call center environment for 1st or 3rd party collections and/or front office medical billing experience.
