Position Overview:
Recess is seeking a warm, knowledgeable instructor to lead rotating Pre/Postnatal Class Series for new and expecting parents. These classes should blend education, emotional support, and community-building in a calm, non-judgmental environment. Ideal candidates are doulas, birth educators, therapists, or wellness professionals with a passion for supporting families through pregnancy and the early parenting journey.
What You'll Do:
- Design and lead engaging, evidence-informed class series (typically 4–6 weeks) for prenatal and/or postpartum audiences
- Facilitate meaningful conversation, education, and connection among participants
- Collaborate with our team to schedule and promote the series
- Create an inclusive, welcoming space for all family types and parenting journeys
- Handle any setup/cleanup needs related to your class materials
Topics might include (but aren’t limited to):
- Preparing for birth or postpartum
- Feeding, sleep, or newborn care basics
- Emotional and identity shifts in parenthood
- Partner support and communication
- Wellness practices like breathwork, light movement, or self-regulation techniques
You Might Be a Fit If You:
- Have relevant credentials (doula, therapist, RN, LCSW, IBCLC, etc.) or equivalent experience
- Have experience facilitating adult group education or support groups
- Communicate with empathy, warmth, and clarity
- Are reliable, organized, and comfortable running your own class
- Value community and shared learning over rigid instruction
