Job Summary
The Resident Aid (RA) will provide essential coverage and support of the assigned transitional residence. This position is responsible for the welfare, safety, and general assistance to the residents. The RA will provide crisis intervention to residents as applicable and notify appropriate emergency and on-call personnel if necessary. The RA must always stay present during shift to field emergencies as they arise.
Duties
- Coordinate the safety and security of the clients and the facility outside of treatment hours by monitoring house rules and conducting inspections during the shift and reporting incidents by following protocols.
- Coordinate care in case of emergencies, such as medical or fire, and contact the on-call supervisor during emergencies in the absence of a counselor and/or Program Director.
- Interact with clients in a manner demonstrating democracy and emotional intelligence and assist with problem solving in daily living activities.
- Record all rule infractions or any other pertinent information to relay to supervisory staff.
- Provide holiday, weekend, evening, and overnight coverage as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must maintain a valid state driver's license, and a safe vehicle with valid insurance and registration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/ First Aid Certificate
- Ability to respond to physical emergencies, including immediate evacuation of the residence and potential client medical and behavior situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, and team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds or perform light duties.
- Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for their needs.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the facility's needs.
