Peer Support Advocator (part time)
Would you like the opportunity to advocate for individuals who struggle with mental health and / or substance abuse.? Peer Support Advocates focus on individuals to enhance their recovery, providing and navigating resources in a community-based mental health agency. In this role you will
- Maintain your own personal recovery success and be a role model sharing practical coping skills and ways to overcome barriers;
- Encourage, inspire, and empower others to follow recovery goals and achieve them;
- Make appointment reminder phone calls in a pleasant and respectful manner and notify front end staff of changes in client demographics.
- Provide support to clients in an empathetic manner.
- Provide information about services and share resources for services not provided by the Agency.
- Communicate effectively and thoroughly with team members to enable warm handoff of client service.
- Uphold the Recovery Code of Ethics and the Organizational Ethics Code of the Agency with special emphasis on maintaining confidentiality (protecting records, communication and client information) and boundaries within dual relationships.
- Consult with supervisor as needed and maintain open lines of communication.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities sufficient to perform essential functions.
Good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
