How you make a difference

The Forensic Psychologist performs court ordered evaluations, commitment and recommitment evaluations. Evaluates individuals served with suspected mental health difficulties, which may include issues of Competence to Stand Trial (CST) or Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, and civil commitment related to mental illness.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts court-ordered evaluations, including commitment, recommitment, Competence to Stand Trial (CST), Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, and civil commitment related to mental illness.
• Performs forensic assessments, such as CST updates and risk evaluations, while collaborating with treatment teams and courts.
• Supervises and trains psychology students, and provides educational support to the clinical team as needed.
• Provides expert testimony in court and ensures timely, thorough documentation consistent with professional standards and facility policies.
• Delivers individualized, culturally competent assessments tailored to the age, life span, and developmental needs of individuals served.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Required: Ph.D. or Psy. D. in psychology from an accredited university.

Experience

• Preferred: Three (3) years of experience working in a hospital or secure setting.

Licenses/Certifications

• Required: Current license as a psychologist in state of practice and any other certifications required by the state to perform forensic evaluations.
• Required: Any client-mandated certifications and/or training.
