Job Summary:
The Detox Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the Detox Nurse Manager in directing patient care delivered by Recovery Works NW. Reporting to the Detox Nurse Manager, this role will support the Nurse Manager as in answering staff questions, managing callouts, and assisting with training and administrative tasks. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support both new and existing staff, oversee necessary supply orders, maintain controlled medication records, complete reports, and audit charts. This position also involves providing ongoing feedback and guidance to the medical team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee daily operations, addressing staff inquiries and operational concerns.
- Assist in managing staff scheduling, including securing coverage for callouts and covering shifts when necessary.
- Assist with the onboarding and training of new staff members and provide continued education and training to current staff.
- Oversee supply orders and ensure necessary medical and operational items are stocked.
- Maintain and track controlled medication forms for compliance and safety.
- Complete and submit monthly reports related to nursing and facility operations.
- Audit patient charts regularly to ensure compliance with policies and accuracy in documentation.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to staff to promote professional development and improve patient care.
- Ensure nursing staff are in full compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules regarding detox facilities (currently OAR 415-050-0020 through 415-050-0090)
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of various substances of abuse, the disease of addiction and s/sx of detoxification
- Knowledge of de-escalation methods.
- Physical ability and agility to perform two CPR cycles to the current AHA or ARC standard
- Ability to use EMR system
- Must be able to function in an independent team setting, be flexible in attitude, and desire to holistically care for clients seeking detoxification
Qualifications:
- Active nursing license (RN/LPN preferred) in good standing.
- Active BLS
- Knowledge of and/or experience with chemical dependency interventions and treatments
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to, religious views, political affiliation, cultural background, lifestyle, sexual orientation and gender identification
- Motivational interviewing and de-escalation training
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to climb stairs several times a day
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Bending, lifting, sitting, crouching several times a day
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
