Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled IT System Administrator with at least 5 years of experience supporting infrastructure in a combined IT and Operational Technology (OT) environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing virtual server infrastructure, Active Directory administration, and providing hands-on support for IT/OT systems. Familiarity with NERC CIP standards, Microsoft Windows environments, VMware virtualization, and SCADA network architecture is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage virtual server infrastructure, including deployment, updates, and performance monitoring (VMware or similar platforms).
- Administer Active Directory, including user and group management, onboarding/offboarding processes, and Group Policy creation and enforcement.
- Provide Tier 2/3 hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for IT and OT systems across corporate and operational environments.
- Monitor and ensure system reliability, uptime, and performance across virtualized and physical infrastructure.
- Assist in the administration and documentation of systems in compliance with NERC CIP cybersecurity standards and protocols.
- Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, and SCADA teams to ensure secure and stable communication across IT/OT networks.
- Maintain up-to-date system documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices, especially those related to cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in audits, assessments, and reviews related to system security and regulatory compliance.
- Support patch management, system upgrades, and backup/recovery operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT System Administration within an IT/OT or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and Group Policy Management.
- Strong experience with VMware (vSphere/ESXi) or other virtualization platforms.
- Solid understanding of NERC CIP standards and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and network architecture is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices within an industrial or critical infrastructure environment.
- Experience in system monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, VMware, CompTIA Security , or NERC CIP certification) are a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Candidate must be local to Houston or willing to relocate
- Ability to go into office 2-3 days a week
