Recruit Secure is collaborating with a very large (280-bed), 5-star rated Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) located in Astoria, Queens, NY, and who is seeking a dynamic Nursing Home – Director of Food Service The Director will be responsible for handling all duties surrounding the staffing, preparation, stocking, serving, and safety of the food service for the Nursing Home. The successful candidate will have several years of experience leading, hiring, and mentoring Dietary staff in a Skilled Nursing Home and be very knowledgeable with State and Federal DOH rules and regulations.
This facility is highly rated and very stable. The staff is cooperative and congenial (a “family” environment). This position reports to the Administrator. A competitive salary, full benefits package, 401K, are offered.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and schedule the Food Services Department staff and ensure all shifts are covered
- Hire and Supervise Staff Dieticians and Food Service Supervisors
- Participate in all DOH and other agency surveys (inspections)
- Assist in developing safety standards for the Food Services Department.
- Monitor food service personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that all food services personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress codes.
- Ensure that stock levels of staple or non-staple food, supplies, equipment, etc., are maintained at adequate levels at all times.
- Manage the Food Budget and direct the purchasing of food service supplies, equipment, etc., as required and within the budget.
Requirements:
- Must have Skilled Nursing Home experience (3 to 5 years preferred) – a must
- Must have Food Service supervisory/management experience (at least 3 years)
- Experience in DOH survey process – a must.
- Strong Knowledge of large-scale and Therapeutic food preparation
- Must be ServSafe Certified
