What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Protection Engineer position at recruitAbility?
Why This Role?
This firm is known for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across New York and New England, serving clients in state facilities, hospitals, industrial manufacturing, and commercial development. Until now, they’ve subcontracted fire protection engineering work—but it’s time to bring it in-house. That’s where you come in.
If you’re an engineer who thrives in a collaborative, small-firm environment where leadership is hands-on, decisions are made quickly, and career growth is real (think future partnership opportunities), this is the perfect role for you.
What You’ll Do:
Design and develop fire protection systems, including sprinklers, alarms, and suppression systems.
Work closely with architects and engineers to integrate fire safety solutions into building designs.
Ensure compliance with NFPA codes, IBC, and OSHA regulations.
Stay ahead of the latest advancements in fire protection technology.
Engage with clients and project teams – this is not a sit-in-the-corner job.
What You Bring to the Table:
PE License in Fire Protection Engineering (Massachusetts preferred, but open to reciprocity).
5+ years of experience in fire protection engineering and design.
Strong familiarity with fire modeling and simulation software.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once.
A desire to mentor and grow within the company.
What’s in It for You?
Competitive salary + annual performance bonuses.
Flexible work schedules – because work-life balance is real here.
Professional development – licensure, certification, and continuing education support.
Comprehensive benefits – medical, dental, vision, and immediate 401(k) participation with employer matching.
Path to leadership – this firm is looking for the next generation of leaders, and you could be one of them.
Small firm, big flexibility – work closely with the owners and make a real impact.
